“What have you guys been up to?” Prometheus asked, sitting at the kitchen table.
“We took down The Vanisher a couple weeks ago.” Merchant Mariner said.
“She went bad again?”
“Shouldn’t be surprised, you big softy,” Merchant Mariner said, scratching his gills. “Evans also broke out, so we put him back in.”
Matt moved towards the refrigerator, where he found a diet soda. He took it out and pulled at the tab. He took a sip, then scratched his bare chest.
“I heard about Katie,” Matt said. “I’m sorry.”
“Yeah,” Prometheus said. “Me too.”
In that moment, Louis walked into the kitchen, fully clothed. “Oh my god, Matt,” he said. “Put on some clothes.”
Then he saw Prometheus sitting at the kitchen table. “Prometheus.”
Prometheus nodded his head. “Hey, Louis.”
“How’re you…” He didn’t finish the sentence.
“Good as I can be. On top of the stuff with Katie,” Prometheus said, knowing and assuming Louis had already heard about that, “I’ve also been helping Anne out. Have her working in the shop now. That girl is smart. Does great work, but she’s got a lot going on.”
“Matt and I were talking about her awhile ago,” Louis said, leaning on the kitchen doorway. “You sure you want her in the shop?”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Prometheus asked.
Louis cast his gaze towards the floor. “There’s something weird about her. Honestly? I don’t think she’s a good person.”
