“Don’t you have classes you have to go to?” Shade asked, drink in hand.

“I’m smart. I don’t do class.” Anne smiled.

Shade laughed. “So you’re planning to fail all your classes.”

“What about you?” Anne asked. “Don’t you have a job and stuff?”

“My real passion lies in crime, obviously,” Shade said. “That’s where most of the money is, anyway.”

“What about the bartending gig?”

“They’re remodeling,” Shade said, “because apparently rich white guys don’t like looking at the same building for more than six months at a time.”
